Get it? It’s SNOW COZY, because snow is coming, and it’s cozy?
This beanie is actually beanie pattern number two in my patterns that i designed over the last week. There are five? Four or five. One is more springy, so that’ll be released around the end of March. SO KEEP AN EYE OUT! If you subscribed, you’ll get a notification when i publish new posts.
Let me just say that when i started making this, i had a completely different vision in my head on how i wanted this beanie to look, but guess what. It turned out a little different and I am so glad because i love it so much more. I am in love with all things HDC, SO, that is why so many of matterns utilize that stitch in as many ways as possible. It’s not a super yarn eater, it makes pretty textures, and the actual build of the stitch is just gorgeous to me.
It also uses what i like to call a mini basket stitch. It uses the same concept of alternating the front post double crochet and back post, but it’s a pretty small texture change that i ended up loving. Originally i had planned on doing the full blown basket stitch, but i actually have that written up for another pattern!
This pattern is going to be available as a PDF, however I am lowering my PDF prices. And you can check those out in etsy and ravelry.
Before i get to the nitty gritty of the pattern. I just have to share this with you. I HAVE OFFICIALLY SHOPPED FOR YARN AT HOBBY LOBBY. Why is this so important?
It’s a game changer. I am hooked (haha). I love the softness the squishiness. And, unlike a lot of other acrylic that i’ve worked with, it is so soft and workable before washing. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE loops and threads impeccable. It’s my go to because the colors are always stunning and bold, and i love the way it works up. Almost all of my beanies i make use loops and threads impeccable. And of course i will continue to use it, but hobby lobby’s i love this yarn is definitely going to be a focal point for some of my new patterns, I can promise you that.
Okay, okay, you’re saying. Enough rambling Aubrey.
Here she is…
The Snow Cozy Beanie
You will always join to the first st of the previous row and ch 1. The first st will be placed in the same st as the join.
You may also consider using a K hook in place of the J Hook for the first section of HDC rounds, as it will help the hat have straight sides when laying flat.
To decrease, you will be Half double crochet decrease (half double crochet 2 stitches together) the entire round.
Special note – Whatever your foundation stitch count is how many stitches you will have in your rounds until you start your decrease rounds. So for example – if you start with a foundation of 56, you will have 56 stitches in each round until you start decreasing.
