I have made a few different beanies before I started writing patterns that used the herringbone stitches. And they’re extremely gorgeous in my opinion. So I wanted to write up this pattern that shows off the herringbone half double crochet in combinataion with other stitches.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know a good bit of the beanies i’ve been making have included brims, and most of my patterns you can make either way, you just have to add an extra section usually. A few of my new patterns will include directions for brimless, and brim options so that you don’t have to play too much of a guessing game.
I also want to add that i made this pattern in a “team spirit” beanie and it turned out sooo well. I had a hard time finding anything that went well with a bright yellow pompom i had. So after weeks of complaining about my lack of matching yarn, my husband walks over to my yarn shelf, and pulls down a yellow, some black and some white. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions of what professional sports team that could be BUT it is also my high school colors. Go Lions!
ALSO, don’t forget to reach out to me if you have any problems with this pattern, I will do my absolute best to help you. And don’t forget to tag me and use the hashtag #westbranchbeanie on Instagram.

While working on the brim, you will chain 1 at the end of each row, and turn. Then you will slip stitch the two short ends together and turn the brim right side out so that the seam is on the inside.
You will want to work the band pretty loose and make sure your CHs are not real tight.
While working on the body, you will always join to the first st of that round, Then Ch 1 and start the next round.
