The Pinewood Beanie

Now that I’ve finally been able to finish my child and toddler size #susquehannabeanie, I have felt so much better about moving on to release another one of my favorite beanie designs.

If you’re intimidated with the last beanie i realease, The West Branch beanie, then this is the perfect beanie to warm you up to the herringbone stitches. I will have links down below for youtube tutorials that are my favorite to help guide you if you are not familiar with these stitches.

I designed this beanie and wrote up this pattern somehwere around the end of January. I’m unsure of the actual date because i can’t see it. I spilled coffee on this pattern, and scribbled alot while writing it up.

Anyway, I love this pattern, I love this stitch. It’s so easy and quick and the texture it makes is literally one of my favorites. Don’t forget to hit the subscribe button that pops up so that when i release new patterns you get it first in your emails. I have a couple new pattern ideas bouncing around my noggin that include the herringbone stitches, and i can’t wait to get started on them.

I really quickly want to explain some hook sizing options and counts. For a brimless option, if you want to go up two hook sizes (k hook for example.), you will want to take away four stitches for every hook size. So eight (if using a k hook) stitches off of the 56. So 48 for k hook. And don’t forget to go up two hooks sizes from that one for the body of the beanie.

Say you want to go down a hook size. For example and F hook, You would add 8 stitches. So you would go up to 64 stitches in your foundation.

For the brim/band option. Same thing applies, go up four in your stitch count for every hook size you go down, and take away four for every hook size you go up. Then use the next size hook up from your chosen hook size for the body. .

If this is confusing, PLEASE email me and ask me to help you, . I literally have my phone on me 24/7 and can answer you pretty quickly.

***If you are a super tight crocheter, i would suggest going up one hook size, if you are a super loose crocheter, I would suggest going down a hook size. ***
